The Blood Alliance Debuts Smart Phone App

The Blood Alliance, headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida, with operations in Northeast Florida, and regions of Georgia and South Carolina, is one of the first community blood banks in the nation to introduce a smart phone App. Blood banks throughout the country often struggle with low blood donor participation. Of the 60% of healthy Americans who can donate, only 5% do. The Blood Alliance is reaching out to younger donors with hopes that its new App, coupled with a high school iPad™ promotion, will make committing to donate a whole lot easier and more convenient!

With a goal of searching worldwide for the next great idea for environmentally preferable office products, Staples is giving Jacksonville-area college students an opportunity to compete for a $25,000 grand prize if they submit a 1,000 word description of their idea by Dec. 23, 2010.

Through January 9 – Prehistoric Predators – Walk alongside the dinosaurs! Encounter a soaring Pteranodon with a 23-foot wingspan, a Maiasaura mother caring for her hatchlings, a Pachycephalosaurus, Apatosaurus, Albertosaurus and more in the limited-engagement exhibit, Prehistoric Predators. Dinosaur models are handcrafted based on fossil records and equipped with internal computers, making them look – and sound – like the magnificent beasts that once roamed Earth!

Wednesdays – Half-Price Half Days – Beginning at noon each Wednesday when school is in session, students receive 50% off MOSH's regular admission prices. Reduced rates are $4.00 for students 3-12 and $5.00 for students 13 and over. Students under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Discount may be applied toward college students with id.
