J.P. Hall Children's Christams Party Bike Repair

Firefighters from Clay County Fire Rescue and Orange Park Fire Department will be spending  the next few weeks fixing bicycles for the Annual J. P. Hall Children’s Christmas Party which benefits underprivileged children of Clay County.

Firefighters collect unclaimed bicycles from area law enforcement agencies and donated bicycles from the public. These bicycles are repaired and given away at the Annual Christmas Party which will be held Dec. 18, 2010 at the Clay County Fairgrounds from 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM.

The fire service repairs approximately 200 bicycles for the charity. Deputy Chief Richard Knoff stated “ There is nothing better than to see a child get a bicycle for Christmas. Children can take pride and ownership to having a bicycle of their own. Seeing the happy face of a child walking out of the party is what Christmas is all about. Children are who make Christmas special.”

The James Boys, a men’s group from the Orange Park Methodist Church repair bicycles year round and donate over 200 bicycles to the charity also.  Both the James Boys, Orange Park Fire Department and Clay County Fire Rescue have been repairing bicycles for over ten years. This labor of love is uplifting and helps one understand the joy of giving.
