JEA Warns Customers to Beware of Scams

JEA is warning its customers to beware of scams involving utility bill payments.

Recently, some JEA customers have been called, texted or visited in person, requesting a payment be made on a credit card number to avoid disconnection of services. JEA does not call its customers to make such requests.  Additionally, some JEA customers are being offered payment of their utility bill for up to half off the total amount due. The scam works like this – a customer is approached and told their bill will be paid in full if the customer gives an amount in cash. Unfortunately, the account is then paid with a stolen credit card or check. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Thank You Griswold Concrete!

From Community member Jennifer: "I am a friend of the owners of Griswold Concrete and believe they deserve some kind of recognition for the donation of the concrete for the family in Clay County that the house is being built for by the Extreme Makeover television show. Let me tell you a little about them, they are a family owned independent business. They have been in business since 1989 when their father, Larry Griswold Sr, started the business. He passed away in 1999 and that is when Larry Jr and Sherry Griswold took over the family business. They are natives of Jacksonville and have donated to numerous schools and other places in the surrounding area and community when needed in order to make the school or playground, etc. a better place in Jacksonville community. They have never looked for rewards or recognition for their good deeds but this latest one that I am writing to you about deserves just that.
