Teacher and School-Related Employee of the Year | Community Spirit
Please help the School District of Clay County in congratulating this year’s Teacher of the Year and School-Related Employee of the Year! The winners were announced Tuesday evening at the Thrasher-Horne Center for the Arts during a ceremony to honor all Clay County Teachers and Employees of the Year.
Clay County Teacher of the Year: Jennifer Moore who teaches 6th Grade at Coppergate Elementary. Mrs. Moore has 7 years of teaching experience. She is also involved in numerous school and community organizations, including: 6th Grade Writing Mentoring Program, Science Fair, Ancient Times Festival, Relay for Life, Alpha Delta Pi, Step-Up Florida, etc.
Mrs. Moore says: “I believe students will rise or fall depending on the expectations teachers have for them. This is why I continuously push my students to levels they did not know they were capable of achieving. It is extremely rewarding to see all of the hard work, effort and determination come to fruition in my intensive reading students. Many of these students enter my class being labeled as low achievers when in actuality they are just underachieving. These students have the ability to do well, they just are not aware that they can.”
Clay County Employee of the Year: Linda Turner who is a Registered Nurse at Montclair Elementary. She has been an employee of the District for the past 6 years… all at Montclair. Besides assessing children and staff while providing excellent care, “Ms. Linda” as she is known to the students, has knitted at least one scarf for each child at the school.
Her peers say: “Linda Turner epitomizes the special qualities of the school nurse. She consistently goes out of her way to anticipate and generously meet a wide range of needs of the children and staff at Montclair. Her application of experience, education, and continuous training coupled with her devotion and natural caring personality make her a highly trusted member of the Montclair family.”
