Buffalo's Hosts Viewing Party for Clay's Extreme Makeover on May 8

Contractors, community volunteers and local fans of the recent ABC Extreme Makeover: Home Edition project in Middleburg are invited to attend a viewing party from  7  to 9 p.m. Sunday, May 8 at Buffalo’s Southwest Café, located at 6055 Youngerman Circle (just south of I-295 and Blanding Boulevard).

Are you ready to Stamp Out Hunger?

On May 14, The National Association of Letter Carriers will be hosting the nation’s largest single-day food drive, ‘Stamp Out Hunger,’ for a 19th year.

Donations benefit local food pantries and food banks across the nation, including The Clothes Closet Food Pantry, located at 1010 Fromhart Street, which serves Orange Park, Fleming Island and Doctors Inlet area.

The Salvation Army of NE Florida Assists Alabama

The Salvation Army of NE Florida has deployed 2 mobile canteens and a team of volunteers and staff to help assist in the relief and recovery efforts in areas most affected from recent storms.

The Salvation Army canteen (kitchens on wheels) from Jacksonville left on Saturday, April 30 to assist with disaster relief and recovery in the raven stricken areas of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Disaster volunteers from Jacksonville are assisting the Jacksonville canteen. Staff and volunteers from The Salvation Army Orlando Area Command are manning the St. Augustine canteen which traveled to Birmingham, Alabama on Saturday to assist victims and emergency personnel affected by the recent storms. Salvation Army deployments are typically 14 days.

Community Blood Drive Benefitting Sairah Grace Hodge

Sairah Grace has always given back to her community in many ways.  She has been through many medical battles in her 18 years of life. Sairah is an active member of Mended Little Hearts, The American Heart Association, Dreams Come True, Starlight Children’s Foundation, Songs of Love & her newest adventure she is the “Face of the First Coast for the “Go Red” team with the American Heart Association. She has donated her time to all of these organizations as well as being personally involved with them.

The blood drive takes place Saturday May 7, 2011 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at “GATOR CREEK Bar & Grill,” 2710 Blanding Blvd., Middleburg, FL 32068 (in the Grande Ole Plaza-Winn-Dixie shopping center).

Kids Affected by MS Connect at Annual Kids’ Camp

For many children who have a close family member with multiple sclerosis, expressing themselves without feeling selfish or guilty can be difficult. To address their need for support, the National MS Society North Florida Chapter is holding Kids’ Camp at YMCA Camp Immokalee in Keystone Heights, Fla. from April 29 – May 1.

Middleburg Relay for Life, April 16th

Middleburg and Orange Park walkers go around the clock in the battle against cancer during the American Cancer Society Relay For Life. This celebration of life brings together numerous groups and individuals concerned about cancer in a unified effort to fight back.

Teams of enthusiastic citizens will gather at Middleburg High School Stadium for an overnight relay from 6 p.m. on April 15th until noon on April 16th.
