CCSO Detention Deputy Arrested on Drug Charges, Fired

GREEN COVE SPRINGS, Fla. -- The Clay County Sheriff's Office has arrested one of its own.

According to a release from the sheriff's office, 30-year-old Larry Allen Labay Jr., a Detention Bureau deputy, was fired after being arrested for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Labay had already been on administrative leave since last month, the release said, when allegations of narcotics activity first surfaced.

After investigating, his fellow deputies obtained a warrant and arrested him.  Labay's bond was set at $752 on the drug possession charge and the judge released him on his own recognizance for the paraphernalia charge.

There's no word on when Labay will be in court, but the sheriff's office said it would release more information about his arrest on Tuesday.
