MIDDLEBURG, Fla. -- Deputies said 50-year-old Enrique Prim shot and killed 18-year-old Cameron Conley, and seriously wounded 20-year-old Mike Barber, who were both friends with his daughter.

The man Clay County Sheriff's Office deputies suspect of shooting two people at the intersection of Belladonna Street and Angelica Avenue in southern Middleburg had no previous criminal record, police said.

According to police, there was a "brief verbal confrontation" at the intersection of Angelica Avenue and Belladonna Street with Prim and the victims.

"I was on my porch.  We heard the gunshots go off," Conley's friend Randy Guynn said. "I could just barely make out people out there, and we saw people on the ground and I heard screaming."

Police said Prim went to his home in the 2700 block of Fennel Court about a mile away. The suspect was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot in a shed on his 6-acre property around 9 p.m.

Conley was trying to keep the peace between the two men, said one friend, when police said an argument got heated and Prim shot both Conley and Barber.

Guynn said Conley's boyfriend, Billy Randolph, was with her when it happened, and was brought to Guynn's home.

"He had blood on his hands," Guynn said. "He was trying to hold the wound."

Principal David Broskie of Middleburg High School said Conley was a popular student, who was very involved in the school.

"Cameron was a well-liked student. She was artistic. She was an officer on student council where she served as art historian, (and) she was musically interested."

Conley was going to graduate high school in three weeks, and  planned on going to college.

Guynn said Randolph also planned to propose at Conley's graduation.

Conley's mother, Eden Conley, is serving time for attempted murder.

"She's had an extremely rough life at a young age," Guynn said.

The other victim, Mike Barber, is now stable at the hospital.
