Benefit Concert This Weekend For Families Of Teens Killed In Boating Accident
MIDDLEBURG, Fla - A two-day benefit concert is being held this weekend for the families of two Middleburg High School students who died in a boating accident on Black Creek February 21st.
More than a dozen local bands will play to raise money for the families of Travis Hanner, 17, and Halee Mickey, 15.
"These families have no insurance and no means of paying for tombstones. We're just trying to help out," said organizer Lenny Smith of Gator Creek Bar and Grill.
It is being held in the parking lot of Gator Creek Bar and Grill at 2710 Blanding Blvd. Tickets are $5 a person. Organizers say all proceeds will go to the families, and hope to collect $30,000.
"It is unreal! You just miss him a lot. You have no idea what you miss until he's gone," said Mitchell Krafft, a friend of Travis who attended the event Saturday.
