Woman found dead in pond ID'd

MIDDLEBURG, Fla. -- A woman's body was found in Clay County a pond early Wednesday morning.

The Clay County Sheriff's Office responded to a home on the 1500 block of Backwater Drive in the Brannan Mill Plantation subdivision around 6:30 a.m., after a man called and reported his wife missing, according to a release from the Clay County Sheriff's Office.

When deputies responded to the home they found the man's wife, 77-year-old Mitsuko Haddix, deceased in the pond.

According to the CCSO, Haddix was suffering from insomnia and was taking medication for the issue. She went to bed last night and this morning her husband woke up to find her not in bed. He went looking for his wife and saw her in the drainage pond behind their residence.

An investigation is underway and the Medical Examiner's office is on scene to assist with determining cause of death. At this point in the investigation there is no indication of foul play.
