Home Destroyed by Fire, Dog Helps Get Family Out | News

MIDDLEBURG, Fla. -- Firefighters with the Clay County Fire Rescue Department were called to a residential structure fire in Middleburg early Tuesday morning.
According to Clay County Fire Rescue, they responded shortly before 5:00 this morning to a home on Lightning Lane. People living inside the house told Fire Rescue they were able to escape the fire because the family dog had awakened them.
According to a news release, eleven units and approximately 20 firefighters responded to the home. Fire crews arrived on scene 9 minutes after the initial 911 call, however the home was on stilts and well involved prior to their arrival.
No firefighters and no one inside the home was injured.
Fire crews reported the fire under control around 5:30 this morning. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Clay County Fire Marshall. At this time it is not being considered suspicious.
The people who live at the home will not be able to return because the home was destroyed as a result of the fire.
