Jacksonville, FL is about to become an annual destination for rock music fans across the country.  The first annual Welcome To Rockville festival will be held along the beautiful St. Johns River in Downtown Jacksonville at Metropolitan Park on Sunday May 8th 2011. Featuring over 20 bands including Godsmack, Seether, Stone Sour, Theory Of A Deadman, Puddle Of Mudd, Skillet, Halestorm, Rev Theory, My Darkest Days, Jacksonville’s own Cold and many others.

Free Pancakes at Participating Perkins Restaurants 3/21 to Benefit Give Kids The World

On Monday, March 21, more than 420 Perkins Restaurant & Bakery locations will join together for a system-wide fundraiser benefitting Give Kids The World, a nonprofit organization that provides week-long vacations to children with life-threatening illnesses and their families at a fanciful, “storybook” retreat in Central Florida. Guests dining at participating restaurants on “Perkins Pancake Day” can enjoy a free shortstack of Perkins made-from-scratch buttermilk pancakes, expertly prepared using Perkins legendary recipe created and perfected more than 50 years ago. In return, guests can consider making a donation to Give Kids The World.

Annual Charity Golf Shootout Tournament Helps Clay County Families in Need

More than 60 golfers will tee off Friday for the Second Annual Rotary Club of Orange Park Sunset Charity Shootout Golf Tournament at Eagle Landing Golf Course, located at 3989 Eagle Landing Parkway. Advanced Disposal, Clay County's residential solid waste and recycling provider, is a proud sponsor of the event, which benefits local families in need.

Off in the distance one lone voice could be heard, “Three more months and we’ll be through,” followed immediately by the echo of more than a hundred, “Three more months and we’ll be through.” This was the moment the families of these cadets have been waiting for all morning.

As the formation marched closer and the first glimpse of first platoon of teenagers could be seen rounding the corner, the cadence mixed with the cheers from the families lining the street. The noise grew to a crescendo so loud the cadets were no longer able to hear the commands, which were now being shouted out by their leader.

The Board of County Commissioners, at their meeting on March 22, 2011, at 2:00 p.m., will present to Diena Thompson, mother of Somer Thompson, a “Key to the County” for the Somer Thompson Foundation as well as a Proclamation declaring April 5th as Somer Thompson Day in Clay County, and declaring the month of October as S.T.O.P. The Offenders and Predators Month in memory of Somer Thompson.
